My Prague Vacation Turned Out
To Be A Pleasant Surprise

European Vacations > Czech Republic Vacations > Prague Vacation

An unplanned spur-of-the-moment decision took me on my Prague vacation and what a surprise that turned out to be. My expectations for the Czech Republic were not very high, but I was way off the mark.

Skip Intro - Holidays in Prague

I was expecting a drab place with not too much to do.

Cosmos Sun Holidays
Cheap Package Holidays, Self Catering and All Inclusive.

Euro City Breaks
Breakaway to some of the most beautiful cities in Europe.

Instead I found a magical city with beautiful architecture and lots of attractions. Much of the city is pedestrian only and walking is easily the best way to appreciate everything Prague has to offer.

I was also surprised by the number of restaurants offering a wide variety of cuisine, and prices were very reasonable.

And I was spolt for choice with things to do, with some great concerts, theatre, and pubs catering for all tastes. We went in May and the weather was good, but there is lots to do here whatever the time of year.

There are many attractions in Prague :

Prague Castle is beautiful, and is a must see attraction. It was built on the highest hill in the city and can be seen from everywhere.

Prague Castle & River
It is the largest ancient castle in the world, and is the seat of the President of the Czech Republic.

Part of it, the Vitus Cathedral, apparently took 600 years to build, and every hour you can watch the Changing of the Guard, which takes place at the front gates.

Prague is rich in history and culture, and another place well worth visiting is just one of the many museums, The Jewish Museum, with it's extensive collection of Judaic art.

If you do manage to have a Prague vacation, you simply must see The Old Town Square. It's a great place for spending relaxing days, with lots of outdoor restaurants, cafes and bars, and it's pedestrian only. Also scattered around the square are stalls selling Czech arts and crafts.

If you like sightseeing, then the cathedrals, churches and the Vltava river with The Prague Jazz Boat will all contribute to a fascinating visit, and for the children, a trip to the zoo should provide a pleasant day out.

Prague is not just for sightseers, as outdoor types can get in on the action with quad biking, paintballing, go-karting and white water rafting.

At the time of writing this it has been four years since my visit, but I will remember my Prague vacation for a long time to come.

If in Prague, you should take advantage of the many Prague Tours that are available for seeing the sights and attractions, starting from just £12.

Dublin
My Dublin Vacation
My Dublin vacation revealed one of the trendiest cities. Two of the most popular areas are Temple Bar, with dozens of pubs and restaurants, and some of the side streets off Grafton Street.
