I have been writing pages about some of the nice places I've been to, so I thought it was only fitting to write my vacation reviews for some of the places
I definitely wouldn't go back to.
To be honest, I've been very lucky so there isn't many, in fact there's only three that I can recall. Perhaps you have some that you'd like to share, good or bad. If so send me your review
Some of the places I wouldn't go back to
Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
We went here in 1990, and it is only reasonable to assume that things have improved a lot. To be fair, we did go in September, for the last two weeks of the holiday season.
What a mistake that was, it rained a lot, not everywhere was open, and we couldn’t get steak for love nor money, all that was on offer was pork in every hotel and restaurant. I haven’t eaten pork again since then.
The hotel beds were like hammocks and the service was poor. Since that time friends of ours have been here and given the place glowing reports, so maybe it has changed for the better. Even so, I have never felt the urge to return.
1996 was the year and by that time I was already too old for Magaluf. The place is jumping, which makes it ideal for 18 - 30 year olds.
Don't get me wrong, the apartments were fine, food everywhere was good, but we just couldn't get any sleep. The parties went on all night.
We were not put off Majorca though, the following year we went to Alcudia, in the north of the island, and we had a fabulous time.
5 day cruise to Egypt and Israel
This was a holiday within a holiday. We were in Cyprus, a beautiful place, and went on the 5 day mini cruise.
The ship was great, luxurious cabins and delicious food. The main disappointment was Egypt. The pyramids are really not much to see, and the Sphynx had a TV aerial on top of it. The camel ride was good though.
Israel was a tour of the Holy Land, following the footsteps of Jesus, and although interesting, the whole thing is so commercialised now that it somewhat spoils it.
At least we could say we'd done it, but it is most definitely a one-off.
So that's my vacation reviews. If you have any that you would like to share, I'd be delighted to publish them here. A couple of sentences are perfectly fine, but please feel free to write more if you want to.
